Porta Potty & A Framing Package

July 22, 2008

One of the "rules" in Coweta County is that you must have a porta potty on the construction site...I think it is a big waste of money! What man is going to walk up a huge hill to use the restroom in this instead of behind a tree???

YEH! We have a framing package! This is basicly all the lumber it is gonna take to build our home. Over the next few days is when we will really see the house taking shape.

Our First Dinner in Our New Home

July 20, 2008

What a surprise…

Long story short…Aunt Pam and Uncle Jimmy asked us to come over for Adam to help Jimmy hang a fan on Sunday afternoon. Also, Aunt Pam suggested that we take them to the property to see the house in person instead of just on the blog. So of course we went…

When we arrived at the property I heard a car coming up the driveway from the house. It is Doyle in his truck and my Daddy in his truck – if you know anything about Bing (my Dad) it is that he does not go on gravel dirt road in his always clean truck – but, whatever I just thought well just maybe he is starting to change….As the six of us (Pam, Jimmy, Bing, Doyle, Adam, and me) walk around the driveway I notice my Momma and Harriet in the “basement” with a table for two set perfectly…and they tell us happy second anniversary. Needless to say, Adam and I were very surprised!

We had dinner served to us in our new home for the first time on our second anniversary. Filet mignon, baked potato, green beans, garlic bread, homemade ice-cream and brownies…oh and sweet tea, champagne, and strawberries.

Adam and I were very touched! We are so grateful to have you all in our life. Thank you for a very special memory! We love you...

hhgregg!

July 19, 2008

After shopping around for appliances - we knew that our best deals would come from hhgregg! As we were driving around on Saturday, I noticed hhgregg was having a "TENT SALE" - I said to Adam what is it going to hurt just to stop and look? Well, after two and a half hours we had purchased all the appliances we needed plus a little extra...

I was happy because we were able to get the KitchenAid appliances that I had already priced up for a fraction of the cost!

KitchenAid - Frig, Cooktop, Oven, Microwave (& trim), Dishwasher, Disposal
Wine Cooler
Dyson Vacuum
Television & Wall Brackets (umm Adam's)
Surround Sound (umm Adam's)
Washer & Dryer

41 Loads of Dirt & A Job Well Done

July 16, 2008

Dirt, Dirt, and MORE Dirt...the house site is really starting to take shape. If you look in this picture you can see the perimeter of the basement walls and the garage. Thursday the site will be prepared for the concrete slab - basement floor and garage floor.

Adam and Sawyer hitting away...Adam would get the tabs high and Sawyer would practice his baseball swing to hit the low ones off.

Harriet and Doyle (Adam's parents) helped - Doyle was a power house!

20 minutes later...the wall was cleared!

The "corner"...with some of my favorite people. Thanks for your help today! We love you!

Yep, D got some beer and Sawyer had pizza and ice-cream!

Piping, a NASTY Job, & Thursday's Project

July 15, 2008

Piping is DONE! We are scheduled for a inspection on Wednesday - if all goes well the basement floor will be poured on Friday.

This pipe will lead to the Jock & Jill bathroom. The plumber was able to include a couple of "stubs" for us to finish the basement - later down the road. We plan to have a wet bar, bathroom, and possibly a small kitchen.

Once again...the "corner". This pipe will lead to the washer.
What a NASTY job. When Adam and I arrived at the property on Tuesday - a man was down in this long cramped dirt hole painting the water-proof sealant on the basement wall. Adam informed me it was like tar. The smell was awful, too!
Before the basement floor is poured these clips need to come out. Thursday afternoon we have encouraged Sawyer and Doyle to come help us. We promise D some beer and Sawyer an ice-cream...it doesn't take much! It should be an event!
