Di & New York City
It was 1986, my parents purchased a home on Palmetto Pines. I never knew just how my life would change...I meet Diana Bibee. The Bibees lived across the street from the Thorntons. It is hard to believe we have known each other for over 23 years!
I recently found my senior high school Last-Testaments....Diana Bibee - you will always be the little sister that I never had. I can't imagine what life would be like if you had not been in it. You have seen every side of me, you know me better than anyone, you have seen me on my good days and bad days, and you always seem to treat me the same. I will leave you 10 things out of my closet! The memories I have with you are memories I will one day tell my children. How we used to play in the closet under the stairs - me breaking the China fan. If I did not like what my family was having for dinner I would eat with you. How you could make me laugh until I would literally throw-up. We never really argued but the one fight we did have we both remember differently...wanna cookie? How in elementary school we would wait for the bus together and then in middle school we rode in the Ford Tempo and now we are driving ourselves. It seems like yesterday I moved in across the street and our friendship started to grow and now I am moving away and I hope that our friendship is strong enough to last forever.
A lot of what I wrote my senior year still stands true. I really don't even know how to process life without Di - and her parents - apart of my life. We were often inseparable throughout our childhood and teenage years. She is one of my favorite people. I truly hope that my children will one day have a childhood friend Di - and grow up together and go off to college, talk about boys, organize closets, shop and shop and shop, be honest even if it hurts, laugh until you cry or throw-up, fly to see each other when it is farther than a drive away, see plays together, make art projects, share clothes, watch movies, talk about life, ride to school together, talk about memories, be in each other weddings...I cherish our friendship more than most could even imagine!
On Sunday morning I left for New York. Di currently attends New York University - she will be famous one day! I had no excuses not to visit - I took some time during Winter Break to stay "for free" and get a "tour" of New York. What could we not pack into two full days on the streets of New York? Not much...taxi drivers, subway rides, Fairway Market, Time Square, margaritas and guacamole dip, Mary Poppins, Radio City, Carnegie Deli monster sandwich and cheesecake, organizing Di's closet, art store, 5th Ave shopping, Central Park, F.A.O. Schwarz, Macy's, wooden escalator, Tiffany & Co., Fashion Week, NYU, Otto, The Bachelor...I am sure I am leaving something out but, needless to say we had a great time. Just added more memories...
One of my favorites of the trip...at Otto - we could not even really read the menu. We were over whelmed...we looked at each other and said what the hell is this and that. Fortunately, we had a great waitress when she came to the table and this is what I said...we would like bruschetta, salad, pizza, a bottle of wine, and dessert - she picked everything - we were not disappointed.
I had a wonderful time with Di in New York! Thank you Di!
Valentine's Day
I am so fortunate to have parents that I truly enjoy spending time with...even sharing Valentine's Day with them while being with Adam. For Christmas my parents purchased us tickets to Cirque de Soleil Kooza. If you have never been to a Cirque de Soleil show - I encourage you to go. It is absolutely amazing! After the show we had reservations at Bone's Steakhouse. I cannot even begin to describe the filet mignon, mashed potatoes, or pecan pie...makes my mouth water just to think about it! One of my favorite Valentine's Day!
Love you Momma, Daddy & Adam! Happy Valentine's Day!

WOW! 2+ MONTHS
Christmas was wonderful. Adam and I spent most of our time with one family or the other and we enjoyed every opportunity we had with them! We got together with friends to celebrate birthdays, play games (board, cards, and Wii!), celebrate life and our friendships. January has come and gone...we are trying to keep our head above water.
Instead of posting several different events - I thought that a montage of photos would suffice...
I am looking forward to this weekend - Adam, I and my parents have tickets to Cirque de Soleil Kooza on Saturday and on Sunday I am flying to New York City to spend some much needed time with Di - a childhood friend. I promise to get better at posting!

First Get-Together
Christy Sheahan (the world's best math teacher-she was my and Jessica's math teacher in high school) and I hosted a book shower for Tripp, Jessica and Justin's son. This is one of my favorite baby showers to give - Tripp received a lot of wonderful books. It was great to catch-up and everyone seemed to have a great time! Love you Jessica and Justin and Tripp - we enjoyed hosting a shower for you - cannot wait to read you Go Dog Go!
After the shower - "the adults" went home and the high school friends stayed over for chili and drinks. It is always so great to relax and enjoy the company of ol' friends.
If you ever move - have a get-together 22 days later. You will have no other choice but, to have the house in order and it feels good to be done so soon. :)
Welcome-Sargent
The decorating is DONE! After several days of rearranging and redoing and relooking and starting completely over...the house is decorated.
Turkey...Moving Too
During the renovation at the Powell Place house we came across this lovely ceramic turkey in the garage. Adam was headed to put it in the house when my Dad said, "Put it in the back yard dog house." Well, the turkey stayed in the back yard at Powell Place until Sunday. Of course, Dad loaded it up to bring it to Welcome Sargent. He found the perfect place for it...

How Blessed am I!
What a wonderful weekend! Tomorrow I will turn 26…I celebrated this weekend with family and friends. On Saturday, we spent the evening with my parents for Momma's spaghetti and on Sunday, we spent the afternoon with Adam's family for good home-cookin'.
As I sit here – reflecting over how much I am loved – I get tears in my eyes. I am so very fortunate to have two parents who cherish me and in-laws who love me like there own.
I received a card from my Momma last week – it is wonderfully written, here it is: (if you click on it you can read it)
Oh - how I cherish my parents! They are such wonderful parents! I adore both of them and value every opportunity I have to make a new memory with them...
Every time we get ready to leave - my parents always walk us out and wave like this...they always make me laugh-out-loud! My birthday month has come and is almost over – Adam will be glad on November 1 – I have had a wonderful birthday month. Thank you for all of my perfect presents! I love you all!

Helen
Adam and I needed to get away! So we went to Helen...
We hiked up to the top of Brasstown Bald. The leaves were starting to change - it was a beautiful weekend to go!
Can you tell how windy it was?
I agreed to hike Brasstown Bald if in return Adam would take me to Cabbage Patch Kids Babyland...I had some great memories from Babyland - this was the first time I ever walked through without purchasing a Cabbage Patch!
